Website Development Life Cycle

Despite having a certain degree of conventional wisdom, we often misunderstand the core part of website development as mere coding process. Truly, technologies like JavaScript, HTML, CSS, etc have shaped the Internet of things and defined the way we interact, share, and communicate on the web. But what remains one of the most crucial part of the web development process and what we generally miss is the preliminary phase of detailed planning, gathering information, structuring relevant facts, and post product release maintenance.

1) Information Gathering: Review, Assessment & Analysis

2) Specification Building: Planning and Wireframe Creation

3) Design & Development: Page Layout and Approval Cycle

4) Content Writing & Assembly

5) Coding

6) Testing, Review and Launch

7) Search Engine Optimization & SMO

8) Post-Launch Maintenance

Stage I: Information Gathering: Review, Assessment and Analysis

This is the preliminary stage of gathering information, understanding the purpose, and determining the subsequent flow of the other stages. It entails finding out the goal of designing a website, the target audience, future prospects, and defining the strategies for further processes of website development services.

The general time taken in this stage is estimated to be roughly 1-2 weeks.

Stage II: Specification Building: Planning and Wire frame Creation

The second stage is where each element is aligned properly and a sitemap is drawn based upon the outcome to allow the client with the opportunity to view how his / her future website will look like.

The sitemap should be such that it depicts how all the web pages will be aligned and linked to each other, what is the relevance of each page in building the complete website, how will the end-user interpret the website, and the like. An important point to be noted is that the sitemap can help you realize the inner structure of the website, but not its interface.

The general time taken in this stage is estimated to be roughly 2-6 weeks.

Stage III: Design & Development: Page Layout and Approval Cycle

This is the beginning of Website design. All the visual elements on your website such as graphics, videos, images, design components, etc is created in this stage. The information gathered in the first stage is used to determine the target audience’s preferences and based on the conclusions, the website is created.

The client can foresee the user interface of his website here. The designer designs the website layout having the graphic design and other visual elements demonstrating the content structure, basic functionality, and an understanding of the proposed website to be developed.

The general time taken in this stage is estimated to be roughly 4-12 weeks.

Stage IV: Content Writing and Assembly

Considered as one of the most crucial stages of website development, content writing involves laying the complete information structure of the website to interact, love, and share anything you want! Content writing involves all the parts of the website where there is scope to add ‘words’ from the header to footer. Once the content and information is selected, it is assembled to form a collective scope of a website.

The general time taken in this stage is estimated to be roughly 5-15 weeks.

Stage V: Coding

This stage is the beginning of the actual web development Services. This is where the design elements, content, and other structures are aligned together under one site. Generally, developers start with coding the Home page and the rest sub-pages follow. Ideally, there must be a proper implementation of CMS and Frameworks for the purpose of making the server work faster as well as gains the ability to tackle set-up and installation effortlessly.

The general time taken in this stage is estimated to be roughly 0-1 week.

Stage VI: Testing, Review & Launch

Once the website design and development process is complete, the website is sent to undergo a series of testing and quality checks before it finally reaches the audiences. The website is then reviewed a couple of times by the experts to check for any bugs, correction, or alignment of any design element etc.

The general time taken in this stage is estimated to be roughly 2-4 week.

Stage VII: Search Engine Optimization and SMO

SEO Services is an important tool to bring your website on the first page. It covers a vast field of optimizing websites, we pages, and more. The website, once completed, is sent to be optimized by search engines and effective marketing strategies are planned for the website to go viral!

The general time taken in this stage is estimated to be roughly 7-8 week.

Stage VIII: Post Launch Maintenance

Building a website is not enough, there’s more to it. The client is always on foot to determine the number of people visiting, the color combination, customer preferences, and prevailing tastes in determining the success rate of the website launch. Post-launch maintenance is also provided in case customers face any issues or troubles during the service period.

·         Importance Of Link Theme
Moz, a famous internet marketing and analytics services company states that the theme of the outbound links created is as important as the content itself. Search engines like Google tend to refer to the links as a signal of relevance. For example, if you have a website for selling houses and you are making links to a technology page, it will send the wrong signals to Google and thus hinder your SEO rankings.

·         Quantity Of Links Created
The number of outbound links created is also important as the excessive link created can have a negative impact on the SEO ranking of a webpage.

·         Outbound Links In Excess
An excess of outbound links can lead to trouble and eventually lead to lower rankings in the Google search results. This happens because of the excess of links causes distraction from the primary topic.

2.       Mastering Internal Linking

·         Quantity of Internal Links In the Webpage
The amount of internal linking directly relates to the amount of the relevance of the webpage. This is a certified fact and thus helps improve SEO rankings.

·         Quality of Internal Links In The Webpage
Similar to outbound links, internal links to authoritative webpages have a much stronger and prominent effect as compared to links to pages that have little nill PR.

·         Broken Internal Links

Broken internal links should be avoided at all times. You see, links are important so as to create greater relevance and add quality to the content. Search engines send crawlers that identify the webpage based on its relevance. However, despite using the right keywords, if the internal links created are broken or not functional, the webpage is deemed irrelevant. This obviously affects the rankings in a negative way. The website eventually gets deemed as a “neglected and abandoned website”.
